Current Information:Age-25 3, Neville Terrace, South Kensington In the summer of 915, HM Submarine E2, having passed through the Dardanelles, was operating against Turkish shipping in the Sea of Marmara. On 7th September, 1915, Lieutenant Lyon, carrying explosives, swam from the submarine to two dhows which he then proceeded to blow up. The next day, 8th September, 1915, he swam, this time towing a small raft of gun cotton, in an attempt to blow up a railway bridge but he was never seen again and was presumed drowned. |
